4 Reasons for Stomach Bloating and Belly Fat by Medical Weight Loss in Philadelphia
In or Philadelphia Medical Weight Loss Center people come to us for all different reasons. Most people who come to us need help with losing weight while others may want to lose weight but they also want to improve their overall health and wellness. One of the main complaints that we usually hear from almost everyone is that their stomach is always bloated and / or they just cannot get rid of their belly fat. There are many different reasons why a person may be bloated or not able to get rid of their belly fat and today I am going to discuss a few of them.
Reason Number 1:
One of the most common reasons for having difficult to lose belly fat is that there is too much insulin in the body. When your insulin level is high your body is in fat storage mode. Most of the calories that you are eating during this time or going to be stored as body fat. You start developing abdominal fat also known as visceral fat. This can also lead to your liver getting fatty and can eventually cause fat to develop around other organs and into our stomachs and causing distended belly. This can also cause a sagging stomach as well. And of course let’s not forget the love handles and back fat. Eating too much high-sugar fruits, starchy carbohydrates, candies and beverages containing sugar can all increase your insulin level and cause you to gain fat.
Reason Number 2:
High cortisol levels can also increase your belly fat. cortisol is produced by your adrenal glands and is considered to be a stress hormone. When you are physically and mentally over stressed your body produces more cortisol and cortisol in turn increase insulin production. And we know that high levels of insulin increases stomach fat. Cortisol turns protein into glucose which causes a spike in insulin production. Because cortisol increases your blood sugar and your insulin you eventually develop a insulin resistance and your body cannot properly control blood sugar; now you can possibly develop Diabetes. So your body is now producing high levels of insulin but it’s not effective in lower blood sugar levels.
Reason Number 3:
Another reason for stomach bloating is that you are consuming too many sugar alcohols such as erythritol. Sugar alcohol can cause stomach bloating, gas, diarrhea and constipation. Personally, I cannot consume large amounts of erythritol. When I was first diagnosed with diabetes I was trying to restrict my sugars and starchy carbohydrates. For my birthday, my wonderful wife made me a sugar-free, low carb cheesecake and she used erythritol. When I took my first bite it was absolutely delicious and suffice to say it was my birthday so I indulged a bit too much and I paid the price later.
My stomach was a mess, nothing but pain and gas. I learned this lesson the hard way. If you are maintaining a restricted carbohydrate diet, you have to be careful of overconsumption sugar alcohols. There are other sugar substitutes that you can use. I now use monk fruit and monk fruit extract. If you do use sugar alcohols please use small quantities.
Reason Number 4:
Finally you may just be overeating or eating too many times during the day. When you eat it takes about 4 – 5 hours for the food that you are eating to be processed and go through your stomach. It takes about 5-6 hours for the food to go through your small intestine and then it can take anywhere from 10 hours to 30 hours to go through your large intestine depending on what you ate.
So when you are eating something every hour you could be overloading your system. You have to give your body time to digest all of the food that you were eating. And when you are eating take your time you don’t want to shovel everything and anything into your body as fast as you can. Be mindful of the foods you are eating and the quantity of food that you are eating.

From a Size 18 Divorcee to a Sexy Curvy Size 12/14 Newlywed
Congratulations to Susan who dropped from a size 18 to a curvaceous size 12/14. First let me say that Susan gave us permission to tell her story and she actually insisted we tell her story in hopes of helping people in her same situation.
In our medical weight loss program people come to us to help them lose weight for so many different reasons. Some people may have to lose weight because of health reasons while others are looking to lose weight for some type of family or school reunion and then some are just looking to lose weight to fit into a bathing suit before their vacation.
And for some losing weight can be a triumphant personal victory and such is the case with Susan. You see Susan was a happily married 57-year-old woman with 3 children. But as it turns out Susan’s husband was not quite as happy as she was and he left her for a much younger woman.
Financially Susan was left secure by her husband because he was a very successful businessman but emotionally she was totally devastated. It took quite a bit of time for Susan’s friends to finally convince her to start dating, to get her life back.
And being good friends they set her up on lots of blind dates but sadly there was never a 2nd date. Finally Susan had enough and she decided it was time to do something about her situation.
She decided to find love again.
Susan’s first visit with us was not easy. She gave us every reason why the program was not going to work for her. She also told us that she was never a skinny girl. She was never a size 4, she was never a size 6. But just like we tell all of our patients not everyone is meant to be a size 2, not everyone is meant to be a size 4 or even a size 10. You just have to be happy with yourself and be the best possible you that you could be. I explained to Susan that in our program we take into consideration your body type. And we try to help you appreciate the body that God gave you.
If you are a curvy lady be thankful for the curves that God gave you and if you are a skinny lady be thankful for the body that God gave you. Our program is all about appreciating yourself.
While we do help people that must lose lots of weight we also help ladies (and men) that just need to lose a tummy fat, thigh fat and maybe some arm fat and then just tone everything up with walking and maybe even some resistance training just using rubber bands that they sell in the stores that are inexpensive. So again our program is designed to help you be the best you. Our goal is to help you appreciate who you are and what you are. And as it turns out Susan also found a gentleman who definitely appreciated her curves.
In her first visit with us we explained to Susan that the appetite suppressant medications work extremely well at controlling your appetite and we even showed her little tricks to do if she did happen to be hungry especially late at night. Well Susan put her best effort into the program and now she is enjoying her honeymoon.
Here are a few of Susan’s favorite recipes from our weight loss program.

Doctor Loses Over 30 lbs With Medical Weight Loss Philadelphia
In our medical weight loss program most of our patients lose 2 – 5 pounds per week. They lose all this weight by eating delicious tasty food. And on our weight-loss program you eat real food that you would normally buy at the supermarket. You do not have to spend hundreds of dollars on pre-packaged meals like many other weight-loss programs.
In fact using our own medical weight loss program I have lost quite a bit of weight myself. You see I suffered a significant back injury a while back from a car accident. And these injuries caused me to suffer pain all day long and severely limited my physical activity.
Suffice to say I just got fatter and fatter.
Finally after being diagnosed with Diabetes, I realized that I had to make lots of changes and get myself together. So in the beginning of this year, 2015, I made the promise to myself and my wife that I would follow our medical weight loss program exactly as I teach all of our wonderful patients.
And I am happy to say that I have lost quite a bit of weight following our medical weight loss program. It makes me even happier to fit into clothing that has been in the back of my closet for years.
Because of my Diabetes I decided to follow a program that really controlled the sugar in my diet. This is the same program that I give all of our Diabetic patients to do.
Not only did I lose weight, but now at 3 months into the program my blood sugar levels are normal.
I definitely appreciated all of the recipes and menus that we provide our weight loss patients because they made my losing weight easy – I just had to follow the plan – and the food and recipes we give our weight loss patients are delicious. So losing weight was simple, delicious and easy. All I had to do was follow the plan.
The Phentermine works really well at controlling hunger and cravings so it’s easy to follow the plan when you are never really hungry.
One thing I did make sure was that my first meal of the day consisted of delicious protein. This pushed my body into fat burning mode and not fat storing mode.
It’s funny that in our weight loss program we make you eat to lose weight… While other weight loss programs have you starve yourself to lose weight.
So here are 8 yummy recipes that I enjoyed on my weight loss journey. I have them labeled as breakfast but you can eat them anytime of the day for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
These recipes are taken from the book The 100: Count Only Sugar Calories Diet Book by Jorge Cruise. It’s a great book and has lots of low sugar recipes. I definitely recommend you read it.

3 Weight Loss Recipes to Satisfy the Biggest Appetite by Medical Weight Loss Philadelphia
If you are one of our medical weight loss patients you know that I am always trying new recipes that will make losing weight delicious, simple easy and fun. And if I may say so myself I have done a fantastic job in finding and experimenting with these 3 recipes. My favorite is the smoothie recipe because not only is this delicious but it totally satisfied my hunger. So in our efforts to have our weight loss patients lose 2 – 5 pounds a week here are the recipes:
Dr. Kenny’s Ultimate Weight Loss Smoothie: I just made this for breakfast this morning and it is one of the best tasting smoothies that I have ever had.
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces of any non-dairy milk product like unsweetened almond milk – hazelnut or coconut milk.
- 2 ounces of heavy cream.
- 1 scoop of our Solutions-4 protein powder that is sugar-free and is very low in carbohydrates.
- 1 tablespoon of either almonds butter or melted coconut oil.
- 1 handful of kale.
- 2 tablespoons of flaxseeds.
- 1/4 cup of blueberries – optional. The blueberries are optional. I made the smoothie for my wife with blueberries because she likes things to be sweet tasting. But I made mine without the blueberries because I am trying to keep my blood sugar levels as low as possible.
- Combine all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until nice and smooth.
- This is a fantastic recipe because it gives you good healthy protein, good healthy omega-3 fats and a nice dose of healthy nutrients and antioxidants from the kale and blueberries.
Egg Drop Soup*
Ingredients:
- 6 cups of low-sodium chicken broth
- 4 teaspoons of reduced sodium soy sauce
- 1 clove of garlic minced
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground white pepper
- 2 medium carrots
- 1/2 cup frozen baby peas
- 8 teaspoons cornstarch
- 4 eggs
- 2 green onions sliced
Instructions:
In a large saucepan combine 5 cups of the broth, the soy sauce, garlic and pepper. Bring them to a boil. Thinly slice the carrots and add them to the broth. Add the peas to the broth and return to boiling. Stirring the cornstarch into the remaining 1 cup of broth, stir into soup. Reduce the heat and cook and stir until slightly thickened and bubbly, cook and stir for 2 minutes more. Remove from the heat. Place eggs in a liquid measuring, and use a fork to beat the eggs. While gently stirring the broth, pour the eggs in a thin stream into the soup. The eggs will perform fine shreds.
This is a delicious low carbohydrate recipe that gives you plenty of good healthy protein and healthy fat. In order to keep my body weight down and also to keep my blood sugar levels down I eat this at least once a day. And I actually prefer it better with out the baby peas and carrots. But that is just my personal taste; my children actually enjoy it with the carrots and baby peas. So that’s all up to your personal taste. Again this is an awesome recipe if you are trying to lose weight because it gives you a good amount of protein and good omega-3 fats. I hope you enjoy this recipe is much as I do. *This recipe was taken from the “ultimate diabetes cookbook” and this is a better homes and Gardens book.
Olive and Mushroom Frittata*

Perfect Quick & Easy Breakfast to Lose Weight by Weight Loss Philadelphia
Part of the reason why most patients in our medical weight loss program in Philadelphia and Bucks County are losing 2-5 5 pounds a week is because we are always trying to give them delicious recipes that taste wonderful and also facilitate weight loss. I would say probably 90% of the patients always tell us that they usually skip breakfast or they wind up having a bagel or jelly donut with a couple cups of coffee for breakfast. That old cliché that breakfast is the most important meal of the day is totally true. But even more true is the fact that the quality of the food that you eat for breakfast is the most important thing.
But everyone complains that they don’t have time to make a good quality fat burning breakfast first thing in the morning. But now I am happy to tell everyone that we have the perfect solution for this problem.
We have found a really tasty and super quality meal replacement shake. This shake would make an excellent breakfast that will give you tons of vital nutrients and enough protein in order to put your body into fat burning mode for the day. It comes in a variety of flavors like chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and even cream-sickle. Personally my favorite is the chocolate and also happens to be my wife’s favorite as well.
We’ve tried a multitude of different meal replacement shakes throughout the years and my wife told me that each and every one of them taste like cardboard. I am happy to say that this shake gets the approval from my wife because she thinks that it taste really good.
So if you are someone who usually skips breakfast because you don’t have enough time to make it, this is an excellent alternative for you.
The shake is ‘Soutions4’ and is only available from medical weight loss centers. It is made from quality products and just 2 scoops of this shake mixed with water will give you 20 grams of protein and only 180 calories and it is totally sugar free. It’s packed with vitamins A, B1, B2, B5, B6, B12, C, D, E, Biotin, calcium citrate, chromium, folic acid, magnesium and potassium. It will also give you a good healthy dose of important amino acids that are necessary in order to facilitate your body’s natural fat burning process.
The most amazing thing is that this shake gives you 20 grams of protein is totally sugar free and 2 scoops mixed with water is only 180 calories.
Not only is this shake awesome for breakfast but it also makes a great lunch as well.
In fact, lots of our patients are trying to lose weight a bit more quickly than usual because they are getting married or they have a class reunion or special function and in order to lose their weight quickly they will have a shake for breakfast and a shake for lunch and then for dinner they will have a good healthy meal. They may even have 1 or 2 snacks a day.
So if you are just looking for a quick healthy fat burning breakfast this shake is for you. And if you are looking to lose weight a bit more quickly you could have the shake for both breakfast and luch.
So in my opinion this is the greatest meal replacement / protein shake out there on the market today. And again this isn’t something that you can get in a vitamin shop or the nutrition store because it’s only available in medical weight loss centers.
If you do not want to lose too much weight too quickly you can always add half a banana or a half cup strawberries or blueberries to the shake.
Throughout this website and in our YouTube channel you could use this meal replacement shake in every place that I have noted to use protein powder. And you can also use the shake for an awesome recovery drink after your workouts and exercise sessions.
