I just want to touch the topic of exercise and weight loss. There are a multitude of exercises and exercise routines that a person can do to lose weight, build muscle, increase endurance and improve your cardiovascular health. Each type of exercise will give a certain result.
For example if someone would practice an exercise routine of consistently lifting heavy weights they would develop big thick muscles. Conversely, if your focus is on aerobic exercise, for example walking this would help you burn calories, burn body fat and improve your cardiovascular health.
We also have to take into consideration other things such as: age, sex and level of physical fitness. We have many couples coming to us together for assistance in losing weight and so many times we hear the same story.
That the female is doing the same type of weight lifting routine as the male and also following the same type of diet and drinking a lots of protein drinks with big scoops of peanut butter. The man is losing weight but the woman is just getting heavier and more bulky. One of the main reasons that the man is losing weight while the woman is getting heavier is that men have testosterone.
This is the reason why men always seem to lose weight more quickly than ladies. So if you are a woman and reading this article and you are doing the same type of exercises and following the same type of diet as your male significant other, you are probably not losing as much weight as he is and now you know the reason why. Woman have to workout smarter not necessarily harder.

Whether we like it or not your waist measurement, amount of belly fat has a direct correlation with our overall health. Report after report has told us that being overweight/obese can cause a multitude of health issue such as: heart attack, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, heart disease and diabetes.
And now studies tell us that having a big belly, a waist circumference of 37 inches or more for men and for women 31.5 inches can increase the risk of developing breast cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer and many other types of cancer.
It gets even worse because you increase your risk of developing certain types of cancer by as much as 5% for every inch your waist as above these measurements. One of the reasons for this is that your belly fat produces certain type of chemicals – hormones. These hormones increase the inflammatory process in the body and as inflammation increases in the body so those the chance of developing various cancers.
If your belly is protruding or hanging a bit over your pants waistline you definitely need to take this seriously and start taking the necessary steps to reduce your waist size.
Many people think that all they have to do is count calories and they should automatically start losing weight. What they may forget is that calories do matter thought just as important is the types of food that you are eating.
If you are counting calories and decide to eat a candy bar that has 100 calories you have to realize that those 100 calories from a candy bar are not the same as 100 calories from carrots, broccoli or spinach. Each food is processed or metabolized differently by the body. Meaning that the candy bar after being metabolized by the body turns into nothing but pure sugar. As compared to spinach when processed by the body is turned into nutrients that the body needs to be healthy and to function at peak capacity.
That’s why in our weight loss program we emphasize eating foods that will provide our bodies with great nutrition so that we may lose weight but also hopefully improve our overall health and wellness and enhance the ability of our body to function at optimal capacity. So yes the weight loss medications do a great job of reducing her appetite and cravings and this should allow us to make the proper food choices. And that’s why we believe our weight loss program is so successful.
It’s the powerful combination of FDA approved weight loss medications, healthy nutritional recommendations and physical activity that has helped our patients lose weight.
We do our best to educate our patients on proper healthy nutrition. And every week we like to update this website with recipes and articles on health and wellness.

In today’s post I am reviewing a report presented at the European Congress on Obesity in Vienna that linked being overweight/obese to 12 different types of cancer, which cancers are linked to obesity and another report that linked bariatric surgery to a 61% decrease in one of the most common types of cancer in New Zealand.
And of course these posts are not complete without recipes, so I a giving you recipes to 5 great smoothies.
First time visiting our website? Would like more information on our weight loss program? I invite you to call and schedule your free weight loss consultation. Just call us at 215-821-7336 and we will be glad to schedule your free weight loss consultation.
The World Cancer Research Fund has identified 12 different types of cancer that can be attributed to being overweight/obese. On Thursday they released their “Continuous Update Project “: Diet, Nutrition, Physical Activity and Cancer: A Global Perspective.
This report was given at the European Congress on Obesity in Vienna. The report showed how being overweight/obese can be attributed to the development of multiple types of cancer.
These cancers include:
- Liver cancer
- Ovarian cancer
- Advanced prostate cancer
- Stomach cancer
- Mouth and throat cancer
- Bowel cancer
- Postmenopausal breast cancer
- Gallbladder cancer
- Kidney cancer
- Esophagus cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
- Cancer of the womb
There are many reasons why being overweight/obese can be linked to cancer. Fat can cause a multitude of hormonal cancers such as endometrial cancer and breast cancer. Extra body weight can also cause a long-term state of inflammation and this can cause a spike in insulin which can cause various cancers to develop. Being overweight can also cause a person not to be physically active and this has also been shown to be linked to cancer development.
Other research that was presented at the European Congress on obesity revealed that undergoing bariatric surgery was related to 61% decrease in developing malignant melanoma which is one of the most common types of cancer in New Zealand. These reports present us with a strong link to being overweight/obese and developing some type of cancer.

CNN Article Supports Long Term Use of Weight Loss Medications Reduces Risk of Diabetes Heart Disease…
In our Philadelphia medical weight loss center our programs are designed to help people lose weight and also improve their overall health and wellness. Many of the people that come to our weight loss clinic have tried every type of diet and exercise program out there and they may have lost a little bit of weight but they always seem to gain it back. Our program takes all of this into consideration and we work with the person to design the optimal plan to help them achieve their desired bodyweight.
We design our weight loss programs taking many things into consideration such as your age, sex, level of physical fitness and of course we have to take into consideration any illnesses or diseases that you might have. All of these things are very important and that is why our program is very successful.
In addition to providing a person with a good nutrition diet plan and an exercise program we also may use weight-loss medications and appetite suppressant medications. More and more evidence is coming out that supports the use of weight loss medication. And even more evidence is being presented that supports the use of long-term use of such medications.
More than ever the medical societies in this country are realizing that many of the illnesses such as diabetes, heart attack and stroke, just to name a few, are related to a person being overweight or obese.
For many people just following a diet and exercise plan are simply not enough to help them maintain a healthy body weight. And with them being overweight comes the risk of developing many illnesses and diseases.
We see many people coming to see us in our weight loss clinic that are following a sensible eating and exercise plan and yet they are still overweight. They are doing everything right and yet they are still overweight. And this is the reason why we utilize weight-loss medications in our plan.
CNN recently published an article on this very topic. In the article they interviewed top weight loss specialist who believed that long-term use of weight loss medications are needed in order for people to maintain a healthy body weight. In the article they explained that a section of the brain (the hypothalamus) controls our hunger, our appetite and our cravings.
This section of the brain is stimulated by hormones made by your stomach, intestines and fat cells. When you eat your stomach, intestines and fat cells releases specific hormones that tell your brain that you are full, and to stop eating.
But when a person is overweight or obese the nerves that connect to this section of the brain become desensitized, therefore our appetite is never controlled, we never get full. In the article these weight loss specialists stated that these nerves become desensitized and damaged, therefore a person will just continue to eat and gain weight.
And that this is why weight loss medications are necessary; because the body has lost its ability to regulate its hunger.
In the article the weight loss specialists state that losing just 5% to 10% of your body weight can help improve your blood pressure and reduce your triglycerides and decrease your blood sugar levels and that this can significantly reduce the risk of developing heart disease and diabetes. Just by losing 5% of your body weight you can reduce the risk of developing diabetes by 50%.
In summary more and more evidence is supporting long-term use of weight loss medications in order to help people lose weight and also reduce the risk of developing serious diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and even certain types of cancer.

Philadelphia Weight Loss Doctors Fat Burning Exercise Plan
If you are searching for Philadelphia weight loss Doctor I welcome you to call and schedule your complementary weight loss consultation. Call 215-821-7336 and schedule your session now. Dr. Levinstein has developed medication protocols that have assisted people losing weight and breaking through their weight loss plateaus. In our weight loss program we utilize FDA approved weight loss pills, appetite suppressant medications such as Phentermine, Phendimetrazine, Adipex and Bontril along with vitamin B-12 injection therapy and of course clinically sound nutrition and exercise protocols.
In today’s article I’m going to review with you some of the best choices in the exercise routines that are focused on burning body fat and losing inches. Most people do not realize that certain type of exercises yield certain results.
If you are weight training and lifting heavy weights that will usually develop thick dense musculature and possibly cause a gain in body weight. And the amount of muscle that you may gain from this type of exercise routine is dependent upon whether you are a male or female, your age and hormone levels.
A young man of 20 years old is going to get different types of results compared to a more mature man of 55. The younger man because he has an abundance of hormones is going to develop muscle more quickly. The more mature man will still develop muscles but if his diet is not 100% perfect he will probably develop more of a bulky type of look.
This is why as we get older we need to change our exercise programs to accommodate the decrease in hormonal levels. I like to say that as we get older we must work out smarter to achieve our desired results.
And let’s not forget that since heavy weight training is breaking down muscle you will need to increase your calories and amounts of protein that you are eating to build the muscles backup. This of course is going to make you more hungry. For females it’s even more important to do the right type of exercise routines.
You can see that there are many things that need to be taken into consideration when designing an exercise program for a person. Many people are trying to burn body fat, lose pounds and inches and build muscle at the same time. Sadly, as we get older this is almost impossible to do.
That is why in our Philadelphia weight loss clinic we like to focus on first burning body fat, losing pounds and inches.
We have different phases; phase 1 is for burning body fat and losing weight. Phase 2 is for toning the body. In phase 1 we focused on losing pounds and inches by performing mostly low intensity exercises such as walking outside, on a treadmill or in your local mall at a somewhat brisk pace. You may also write a bike, either outside or a stationary bike in the comfort of your own home while watching television or at your gym. You can also follow along with a cardio class, and low intensity Zumba class or even a dance class. Just as long as you are moving your body at a brisk pace you are fine. With low intensity exercise usually during the first 30 minutes you are building up good heart health cardiovascular health and burning up the sugar that is in your bloodstream from all the food that you have been eating. Finally, at minute 31 you should start burning your own body fat.
That is why we usually suggest that people have a goal of increasing the amount of time that they are performing low intensity cardio to 60 minutes. When people start out with us they may only be able to walk for 10 – 15 minutes and that’s it they are finished. That is perfectly fine. You have to accept yourself as you are and be happy with what you are able to accomplish in regards to exercise. If you can only do 10 – 15 minutes of cardio vascular exercise today, except that, be happy and in two weeks try to increase the time that you are walking to 20 minutes. And just repeat this gradual increase over time.
You are trying to make yourself healthy by losing weight so accept the fact that this is going to be a journey and then it’s going to take time and it requires persistence, dedication and repetition. Be honest with yourself and set realistic goals. For some reason many people set these outrageous goals and then when they don’t achieve them they become discouraged and they stop eating well and exercising.
Let’s be kind to ourselves and let set small goals and over the course of time these tiny baby steps become giant steps. And of course the more days of the week that you perform some type of cardiovascular exercise the more conducive it is to achieving your weight loss goals. It is usually recommended that people perform some type of cardiovascular exercise at least 3 – 4 times a week.
In review in order to focus on losing weight, losing pounds and inches it is usually recommended that you perform some type of low intensity cardiovascular physical activity. Then for phase 2 we can begin the exercise routines that are designed specifically for toning your musculature. And that is another article so stay tuned.

2018 Rapid Weight Loss Plan by Medical Weight Loss in Philadelphia
In our Philadelphia medical weight loss program, we use high-quality appetite suppressant medications, vitamin B-12 injection therapy and sound nutrition and exercise protocols. This combination of weight loss pills, good nutrition plans and safe exercise regimens has helped many people lose weight. The weight loss pills are designed to help control your appetite and even though you may not be hungry you still need to eat and follow a proper nutrition plan.
So, in today’s article I’m going to give you a meal plan that should help you achieve your weight loss goals when used with our weight loss program.
For most weight loss patients, it is usually recommended that you eat three meals a day and two good healthy snacks. For snacks we like vegetables, especially celery, cucumbers and carrots. However, you may also eat a low glycemic fruit as a snack.
For breakfast it is recommended to eat 2 ounces of protein, 1 portion of good healthy fat, and 1 portion of a good carbohydrate or 1 portion of a low glycemic fruit.
Then we have a snack in between breakfast and lunch.
For lunch it is recommended to eat 4 – 6 ounces of protein, 1 – 2 portions of a good healthy fat and 4 ounces of vegetables.
And then we have another snack in between lunch and dinner.
For dinner it is usually recommended to eat 4 – 6 ounces of protein, 1 portion of a good healthy fat, 1 portion of a starchy carbohydrate and 4 ounces of vegetables.
I just want to make a note that even though I have 4 ounces of vegetables at both lunch and dinner you may eat more than 4 ounces of vegetables at both lunch and dinner. Vegetables are an excellent source of healthy nutrition and usually I try to eat at least 4 – 5 cups of vegetables a day. Especially leafy green vegetables. It’s no surprise that people that eat lots of vegetables enjoy excellent overall health and wellness.
For general calorie recommendations it is not recommended that females eat less than 1000 calories per day. For men, usually it is not recommended that men eat less than 1600 calories per day.
Your age, height, weight, lifestyle activity level and exercise routines usually help determine the number of calories you should be eating for the day.
