Philadelphia Diet Doctor Loses 82 LBS – Drops From 247 LBS to 165 LBS
Today August 7, 2015 I have officially reached a milestone. I have lost 82 pounds over the past several months. In the beginning of this year I weighed 247 pounds and this morning I am 165 pounds. I am literally fitting into skinny jeans. And this morning my wife told me I am too skinny. I never thought anyone would ever tell me that I was too skinny.
If you are one of our medical weight loss patients in our Philadelphia or Bucks County office you know my story. And even if you just follow this blog on our website you probably have read some of the very personal articles that I have written throughout this past year. An abbreviated version is I was in a car accident some time ago and herniated the majority of the discs in my spine. Suffice to say waking up with pain each and every day and not being able to do any type of exercise because of the pain caused me to eat, and eat and eat.
Eating, was the only thing that I can do that did not cause me pain. So I just got plain old fat. And I just accepted this as the way life was going to be after the age of 50. But my overeating and lack of any type of physical activity made me not only fat but I was diagnosed with diabetes at the beginning of the year. This made the picture of growing old with my wife and living to see my 3 children hopefully one day give me grand-children a very dark and gloomy picture. Diabetes increases your chances of heart attack, stroke, congestive heart failure and a multitude of other serious health conditions that can kill you.
This woke me up! I realized that I had to take control of my health. Just because I was over 50 and just because my spine is a wreck – I was not going to accept an early death.
So I set out and researched everything possible on diabetes and the proper nutrition eating plan in the hopes of curing my diabetes. Well it turns out that almost everything that is online and everything that is printed in the pamphlets and all the other materials for diabetes is wrong for me. I followed everything that they said to the finest detail and my diabetes was getting worse, my sugar levels were getting higher.
I have to say I was discouraged and almost lost hope but my Mother always told me that nothing worth having comes easy in life. So I did more research – I dug deep into the Biochemistry of the body and how different foods cause different reactions in our body’s chemistry and our hormones. And I found the answer!
As it turns out all I had to do was tweak the diet that we normally give to our patients who are weight loss resistant. Because of this diet I have lost 82 pounds and my blood sugar levels are normal.
For the record, I think my wife is correct and 165 pounds is a bit too skinny for me. I think I look better somewhere between 168 pounds and 171 lbs. So now I have to tweak my diet just a little. Quite honestly I do not mind fluctuating between 165 pounds and 171 pounds, when I weighed 247 pounds at the beginning of the year.
If you need help with your health, if you need help with losing weight I invite you to call us. It’s not easy to find the answers on your own. It’s not easy to do it alone. Call me and allow me to help you.
Our weight loss program has worked wonders for me. The great thing is that the weight loss medications really controlled my hunger and cravings. This made it easy for me to eat the right foods, especially in the beginning when I first started.
So if you need help with losing weight, if you need help improving your overall health – call us. Call 215-821-7336
Thank you for reading my story. I hope I did not bore you.
Have a wonderful day.

Best Exercises for Weight Loss by Medical Weight Loss Phila
In our Philadelphia medical weight loss program probably the number one question that we are asked all the time is “What is the best exercise or exercise programs for weight loss?”. And in this article I will answer that question.
Now the answer to what is the best exercise for weight loss is truly different for each and every person. So in our medical weight-loss program we will custom design an exercise program for you. We take into consideration your age, your weight, your level of physical fitness, the amount of time that you are able to exercise during the week and of course we ask you what type of activities that you enjoy doing. The most important thing about exercise is doing something that you like to do.
Some people do well with just walking every day while others like to do short burst of high-intensity training. And then we have people that are totally to the extreme. Some people are doing very aggressive and physically demanding exercise programs like crossfit, boot camps and just the other day we had a young lady who came in and she injured herself while doing some type of gymnastic exercise program where she was actually was exercising on gymnastic rings and doing maneuvers like the iron Cross and hanging upside down on the rings. Honestly, for most of us these extreme type of exercises are not necessary. Now, if you happen to really enjoy these high intensity physically demanding exercise programs that’s fine by me, you should be doing exercises that you like – just make sure that you do not injure yourself while doing them. But for pure weight-loss it really doesn’t take all that much physical intensity to burn fat and lose weight. If you are short on time we have weight-loss exercise programs that are perfect for you because they only take about 12 to 15 minutes of time and you will do them only two or three days a week.
Personally my favorite fat burning exercise is walking. But we are talking about walking keeping your heart rate at specific levels to make sure that you are burning calories and burning fat. Just walking your dog and stopping every 2 or 3 feet really does not count as a fat burning walking program. (When you come in for your weight loss consultation I will calculate what your target fat burning heart rates are for you.)
I also like walking because almost everyone can do it. Quite a few of our patients have bad backs, hips and knees and really cannot do any other type of exercise besides walking.
Because I choose walking as my personal favorite exercise I am going to list a few of the benefits that you get from walking. Surprisingly walking has a large number of benefits besides helping you lose weight and burn fat and here is a list of some of the documented benefits of walking:
- Prevents up to 91% of cases of obesity and type 2 diabetes
- Prevents up to 50% of all cases of heart disease

Doctor Loses Over 30 lbs With Medical Weight Loss Philadelphia
In our medical weight loss program most of our patients lose 2 – 5 pounds per week. They lose all this weight by eating delicious tasty food. And on our weight-loss program you eat real food that you would normally buy at the supermarket. You do not have to spend hundreds of dollars on pre-packaged meals like many other weight-loss programs.
In fact using our own medical weight loss program I have lost quite a bit of weight myself. You see I suffered a significant back injury a while back from a car accident. And these injuries caused me to suffer pain all day long and severely limited my physical activity.
Suffice to say I just got fatter and fatter.
Finally after being diagnosed with Diabetes, I realized that I had to make lots of changes and get myself together. So in the beginning of this year, 2015, I made the promise to myself and my wife that I would follow our medical weight loss program exactly as I teach all of our wonderful patients.
And I am happy to say that I have lost quite a bit of weight following our medical weight loss program. It makes me even happier to fit into clothing that has been in the back of my closet for years.
Because of my Diabetes I decided to follow a program that really controlled the sugar in my diet. This is the same program that I give all of our Diabetic patients to do.
Not only did I lose weight, but now at 3 months into the program my blood sugar levels are normal.
I definitely appreciated all of the recipes and menus that we provide our weight loss patients because they made my losing weight easy – I just had to follow the plan – and the food and recipes we give our weight loss patients are delicious. So losing weight was simple, delicious and easy. All I had to do was follow the plan.
The Phentermine works really well at controlling hunger and cravings so it’s easy to follow the plan when you are never really hungry.
One thing I did make sure was that my first meal of the day consisted of delicious protein. This pushed my body into fat burning mode and not fat storing mode.
It’s funny that in our weight loss program we make you eat to lose weight… While other weight loss programs have you starve yourself to lose weight.
So here are 8 yummy recipes that I enjoyed on my weight loss journey. I have them labeled as breakfast but you can eat them anytime of the day for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
These recipes are taken from the book The 100: Count Only Sugar Calories Diet Book by Jorge Cruise. It’s a great book and has lots of low sugar recipes. I definitely recommend you read it.

Lose 2-5 lbs a Week Eating Cake by Philadelphia Medical Weight Loss Diet Doctors
Yes it is possible to lose 2 – 5 pounds a week in our medical weight loss program while eating delicious cakes and other goodies like I have pictured here in this article.
In our medical weight loss program we believe we give you the best appetite suppressant medications and weight loss pills that will help decrease your appetite and get your hunger and cravings under control.
Lots of our patients tell us that they were never hungry and that losing weight on our program was the simplest and easiest weight loss program that they have ever done.
They also have told us that our weight loss program was not only simple and easy but it was the most fun because we gave them lots of recipes for delicious foods like a chocolate bomb weight loss shake, sugar-free blueberry ice cream, fat burning lemonade, espresso and ricotta cheese desserts and a multitude of of recipes for entrées, appetizers, desserts and even snacks.
One of my favorite recipes is for cheesecake that is sugar-free. And because yesterday was my birthday my wife made me my favorite sugar-free blueberry cheesecake. If you are already one of our patients you know that a few months ago I was diagnosed as having type II diabetes and that I have been trying to follow a sugar-free diet as much as humanly possible. And this sugar-free blueberry cheesecake recipe fits right into my new sugar-free diet plan because it has no extra sugar in it.
(If you are presently not one of our patients you can read all about my personal story about being diagnosed with diabetes in an another article that I have on this website titled “Confessions of a medical weight loss Dr.”)
And even though I am a weight loss doctor I actually ate quite a few slices of this delicious cheesecake yesterday and when I weighed myself this morning I actually weighed a half pound less.
So I know you can’t wait to try this recipe for yourself so here it is:
Sugar Free Blueberry Cheesecake*:
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. of cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup of sour cream
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 tablespoon of stevia
- ¾ cup of xylitol
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- frozen blueberries (if desired)
Directions:
Beat the cream cheese until smooth. Mix in the sour cream, eggs, stevia, xylitol and vanilla. If you want a crust: Wrap foil around the bottom of a 10 inch spring form pan. Butter the bottom of the spring form pan and sprinkle ground walnuts or pecans on top. Pour the cream cheese mixture on top. Place the cheesecake in an oven safe dish that is larger than 10 inches. Pour hot water in outer dish so it reaches half way up around cheesecake. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 – 60 minutes until center is nearly set.
After removing it from the oven you can open the bag of blueberries and place them over top of the cheesecake. You can use blueberries or any other berry of your choice.
Then cool for 15 minutes. Scrape the sides of pan with a knife and release spring. Cool 30 minutes. Remove spring and refrigerate for approximately 4 hours. You can also make it in small ramekin dishes with no crust for individual servings. Make sure to reduce the baking time if you reduce the size of your pan.
*This recipe was taken from one of my my mentors Dr. Daniel Pompa from his website.
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do. And from the picture that you see posted above you can see that I really did enjoy this cake LOL. But it was my birthday so I was allowed to cheat a little bit more than usual.
