Fat Burning Detox Smoothies by Medical Weight Loss in Philadelphia
First, I’d like to start by congratulating all of our Philadelphia medical weight loss patients and our Bucks County medical weight loss patients on successfully continuing with their weight loss goals during this past holiday season.
The holiday season is usually the time of year when people gain quite a bit of weight. And for those of you that have lost weight over this time or maintained the weight that you have lost, I commend you.
Most of the patients I have seen this week told me that they were never really that hungry because the appetite suppressant medications helped control their appetite. This enabled them to maintain their nutritional diet plan but of course with it being a holiday they did cheat a little bit. In today’s article I am going to give you two great smoothie recipes that should help satisfy your appetite and cravings, help cleanse your body and get your weight loss program back on track. I am giving you the recipe for a Banana Blueberry Kale Smoothie and a Strawberry Banana Spinach Smoothie.
Here are the recipes:
Banana Blueberry Kale Smoothie
- Spinach – 1 handful
- Kale – 1 handful
- Broccoli – 1 handful
- Banana – 1 small
- Blueberries – ½ cup
- Melted coconut oil – 1 tbsp
Combine all of the vegetables and fruits into a blender and blend away. When it’s liquefied pour into a glass then stir in the melted coconut oil and enjoy!
Strawberry Banana Spinach Smoothie
- Romaine lettuce – 1 handful
- Spinach – 1 handful
- Cucumber – 1, peeled and seeded
- Strawberries – ½ cup
- Banana – 1 small
Combine the vegetables and fruits into a blender and blend away. When it’s liquefied pour into a glass then stir in the melted coconut oil and enjoy!
I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I do.

2018 Rapid Weight Loss Plan by Medical Weight Loss in Philadelphia
In our Philadelphia medical weight loss program, we use high-quality appetite suppressant medications, vitamin B-12 injection therapy and sound nutrition and exercise protocols. This combination of weight loss pills, good nutrition plans and safe exercise regimens has helped many people lose weight. The weight loss pills are designed to help control your appetite and even though you may not be hungry you still need to eat and follow a proper nutrition plan.
So, in today’s article I’m going to give you a meal plan that should help you achieve your weight loss goals when used with our weight loss program.
For most weight loss patients, it is usually recommended that you eat three meals a day and two good healthy snacks. For snacks we like vegetables, especially celery, cucumbers and carrots. However, you may also eat a low glycemic fruit as a snack.
For breakfast it is recommended to eat 2 ounces of protein, 1 portion of good healthy fat, and 1 portion of a good carbohydrate or 1 portion of a low glycemic fruit.
Then we have a snack in between breakfast and lunch.
For lunch it is recommended to eat 4 – 6 ounces of protein, 1 – 2 portions of a good healthy fat and 4 ounces of vegetables.
And then we have another snack in between lunch and dinner.
For dinner it is usually recommended to eat 4 – 6 ounces of protein, 1 portion of a good healthy fat, 1 portion of a starchy carbohydrate and 4 ounces of vegetables.
I just want to make a note that even though I have 4 ounces of vegetables at both lunch and dinner you may eat more than 4 ounces of vegetables at both lunch and dinner. Vegetables are an excellent source of healthy nutrition and usually I try to eat at least 4 – 5 cups of vegetables a day. Especially leafy green vegetables. It’s no surprise that people that eat lots of vegetables enjoy excellent overall health and wellness.
For general calorie recommendations it is not recommended that females eat less than 1000 calories per day. For men, usually it is not recommended that men eat less than 1600 calories per day.
Your age, height, weight, lifestyle activity level and exercise routines usually help determine the number of calories you should be eating for the day.

Being Overweight – Obese Causes 40% of All Cancer in United States
If you are one of our Philadelphia Medical Weight Loss Patients or Bucks County Weight Loss Patients, you know that every week or every other week I like to post articles on our site of great tasting recipes that can help you reach your weight loss goals or a review of new studies, reports and/or fitness trends. This week I am going to review and alarming report put out by the CDC that tells us that being overweight – obese is responsible for as much as 40% of all the cancer diagnosed in the United States. Two additional resources that I used were Helio.com and Reuters.com. Both these resources did an excellent job of summarizing the report put out by the CDC.
According to the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report published by the CDC…
There are 13 cancers that are associated with being overweight and obese and they cause approximately 40% of all the diagnosis of cancers in the United States. According to Brenda Fitzgerald, M.D. the director of the CDC, the majority of American adults weigh more than recommended – and being overweight or obese puts people at high risk for a number of cancers – so these findings are definitely a cause for concern. By getting to and keeping a healthy weight, we all can play a role in cancer prevention.
US health officials have stated that this significant increase in cancers caused by being overweight and obese is threatening to reverse the progress in reducing the numbers of cancers diagnosed in the United States every year. It is staggering that in 2014 there were 631,604 people in the United States were diagnosed with the cancer associated with being overweight or obese. It’s quite alarming that the overall rate of new cancer diagnosis sees has decreased since the 1990s but the rates for overweight related and obesity -related cancers have been rising. In routers.com they quote Dr. Anne Schuchat of the CDC saying that these statistics show that in some cancers were going in the wrong direction.
Dr. Schuchat also stated that at least half of Americans are not aware of this link between being overweight – obese and cancer. And that reports suggest that healthcare providers in the United States need to make it totally clear to patients that there is a link between being overweight/obese and cancer and they must encourage patients to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.
Justin 2014 alone, these cancers associated with being overweight – obese made up 40% of the 1.6 million cancers diagnosed that year. And they caused 55% of the cancers diagnosed in women and 24% of the cancers diagnosed in men.
According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the 13 cancers that are associated with overweight and obesity include: breast cancer – postmenopausal breast cancer, thyroid cancer, gallbladder cancer, stomach cancer, liver cancer, pancreas cancer, kidney cancer, ovary cancer, cancer of the uterus, colon cancer, rectum – colorectal cancer, meningioma, multiple myeloma and adenocarcinoma of the esophagus.
The CDC recommends that clinicians counsel patients on maintaining a healthy body weight and that they refer patients with obesity to intensive programs. So, they are recommending that maintaining a healthy body weight is one of the key ingredients to improving overall health and wellness and preventing cancer.
Now there are many indicators that will help you to determine what your good healthy body weight. One of them is the BMI. A BMI between 18.5 – 24.9 is considered normal, a BMI of 25 – 29.9 is considered overweight and a BMI of 30 and above is considered obese. Another indicator can be the size of your waist. From current literature is recommended that females have a waist circumference not greater than 31.5 inches; and men have a waist circumference of 37 inches or less. Your body fat percentages is also a good method to determine what your healthy weight should be. In the office we use these tools to determine what your healthy weight should be.
So aside from being able to fit in your skinny jeans and your bathing suit, maintaining a healthy body weight can help you improve your overall health and wellness and prevent many illnesses. And according to the report put out by the CDC it seems that maintaining a healthy body weight can possibly even help prevent cancer.
I hope you take this information to heart and it helps motivate you to achieve your weight loss goals.
If you need help with losing weight I invite you to call us and schedule your free weight loss consultation. Just call us now at 215-821-7336 and we can schedule your appointment.
