Philadelphia Weight Loss Doctors Fat Burning Exercise Plan
If you are searching for Philadelphia weight loss Doctor I welcome you to call and schedule your complementary weight loss consultation. Call 215-821-7336 and schedule your session now. Dr. Levinstein has developed medication protocols that have assisted people losing weight and breaking through their weight loss plateaus. In our weight loss program we utilize FDA approved weight loss pills, appetite suppressant medications such as Phentermine, Phendimetrazine, Adipex and Bontril along with vitamin B-12 injection therapy and of course clinically sound nutrition and exercise protocols.
In today’s article I’m going to review with you some of the best choices in the exercise routines that are focused on burning body fat and losing inches. Most people do not realize that certain type of exercises yield certain results.
If you are weight training and lifting heavy weights that will usually develop thick dense musculature and possibly cause a gain in body weight. And the amount of muscle that you may gain from this type of exercise routine is dependent upon whether you are a male or female, your age and hormone levels.
A young man of 20 years old is going to get different types of results compared to a more mature man of 55. The younger man because he has an abundance of hormones is going to develop muscle more quickly. The more mature man will still develop muscles but if his diet is not 100% perfect he will probably develop more of a bulky type of look.
This is why as we get older we need to change our exercise programs to accommodate the decrease in hormonal levels. I like to say that as we get older we must work out smarter to achieve our desired results.
And let’s not forget that since heavy weight training is breaking down muscle you will need to increase your calories and amounts of protein that you are eating to build the muscles backup. This of course is going to make you more hungry. For females it’s even more important to do the right type of exercise routines.
You can see that there are many things that need to be taken into consideration when designing an exercise program for a person. Many people are trying to burn body fat, lose pounds and inches and build muscle at the same time. Sadly, as we get older this is almost impossible to do.
That is why in our Philadelphia weight loss clinic we like to focus on first burning body fat, losing pounds and inches.
We have different phases; phase 1 is for burning body fat and losing weight. Phase 2 is for toning the body. In phase 1 we focused on losing pounds and inches by performing mostly low intensity exercises such as walking outside, on a treadmill or in your local mall at a somewhat brisk pace. You may also write a bike, either outside or a stationary bike in the comfort of your own home while watching television or at your gym. You can also follow along with a cardio class, and low intensity Zumba class or even a dance class. Just as long as you are moving your body at a brisk pace you are fine. With low intensity exercise usually during the first 30 minutes you are building up good heart health cardiovascular health and burning up the sugar that is in your bloodstream from all the food that you have been eating. Finally, at minute 31 you should start burning your own body fat.
That is why we usually suggest that people have a goal of increasing the amount of time that they are performing low intensity cardio to 60 minutes. When people start out with us they may only be able to walk for 10 – 15 minutes and that’s it they are finished. That is perfectly fine. You have to accept yourself as you are and be happy with what you are able to accomplish in regards to exercise. If you can only do 10 – 15 minutes of cardio vascular exercise today, except that, be happy and in two weeks try to increase the time that you are walking to 20 minutes. And just repeat this gradual increase over time.
You are trying to make yourself healthy by losing weight so accept the fact that this is going to be a journey and then it’s going to take time and it requires persistence, dedication and repetition. Be honest with yourself and set realistic goals. For some reason many people set these outrageous goals and then when they don’t achieve them they become discouraged and they stop eating well and exercising.
Let’s be kind to ourselves and let set small goals and over the course of time these tiny baby steps become giant steps. And of course the more days of the week that you perform some type of cardiovascular exercise the more conducive it is to achieving your weight loss goals. It is usually recommended that people perform some type of cardiovascular exercise at least 3 – 4 times a week.
In review in order to focus on losing weight, losing pounds and inches it is usually recommended that you perform some type of low intensity cardiovascular physical activity. Then for phase 2 we can begin the exercise routines that are designed specifically for toning your musculature. And that is another article so stay tuned.

Being Overweight – Obese Causes 40% of All Cancer in United States
If you are one of our Philadelphia Medical Weight Loss Patients or Bucks County Weight Loss Patients, you know that every week or every other week I like to post articles on our site of great tasting recipes that can help you reach your weight loss goals or a review of new studies, reports and/or fitness trends. This week I am going to review and alarming report put out by the CDC that tells us that being overweight – obese is responsible for as much as 40% of all the cancer diagnosed in the United States. Two additional resources that I used were Helio.com and Reuters.com. Both these resources did an excellent job of summarizing the report put out by the CDC.
According to the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report published by the CDC…
There are 13 cancers that are associated with being overweight and obese and they cause approximately 40% of all the diagnosis of cancers in the United States. According to Brenda Fitzgerald, M.D. the director of the CDC, the majority of American adults weigh more than recommended – and being overweight or obese puts people at high risk for a number of cancers – so these findings are definitely a cause for concern. By getting to and keeping a healthy weight, we all can play a role in cancer prevention.
US health officials have stated that this significant increase in cancers caused by being overweight and obese is threatening to reverse the progress in reducing the numbers of cancers diagnosed in the United States every year. It is staggering that in 2014 there were 631,604 people in the United States were diagnosed with the cancer associated with being overweight or obese. It’s quite alarming that the overall rate of new cancer diagnosis sees has decreased since the 1990s but the rates for overweight related and obesity -related cancers have been rising. In routers.com they quote Dr. Anne Schuchat of the CDC saying that these statistics show that in some cancers were going in the wrong direction.
Dr. Schuchat also stated that at least half of Americans are not aware of this link between being overweight – obese and cancer. And that reports suggest that healthcare providers in the United States need to make it totally clear to patients that there is a link between being overweight/obese and cancer and they must encourage patients to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.
Justin 2014 alone, these cancers associated with being overweight – obese made up 40% of the 1.6 million cancers diagnosed that year. And they caused 55% of the cancers diagnosed in women and 24% of the cancers diagnosed in men.
According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the 13 cancers that are associated with overweight and obesity include: breast cancer – postmenopausal breast cancer, thyroid cancer, gallbladder cancer, stomach cancer, liver cancer, pancreas cancer, kidney cancer, ovary cancer, cancer of the uterus, colon cancer, rectum – colorectal cancer, meningioma, multiple myeloma and adenocarcinoma of the esophagus.
The CDC recommends that clinicians counsel patients on maintaining a healthy body weight and that they refer patients with obesity to intensive programs. So, they are recommending that maintaining a healthy body weight is one of the key ingredients to improving overall health and wellness and preventing cancer.
Now there are many indicators that will help you to determine what your good healthy body weight. One of them is the BMI. A BMI between 18.5 – 24.9 is considered normal, a BMI of 25 – 29.9 is considered overweight and a BMI of 30 and above is considered obese. Another indicator can be the size of your waist. From current literature is recommended that females have a waist circumference not greater than 31.5 inches; and men have a waist circumference of 37 inches or less. Your body fat percentages is also a good method to determine what your healthy weight should be. In the office we use these tools to determine what your healthy weight should be.
So aside from being able to fit in your skinny jeans and your bathing suit, maintaining a healthy body weight can help you improve your overall health and wellness and prevent many illnesses. And according to the report put out by the CDC it seems that maintaining a healthy body weight can possibly even help prevent cancer.
I hope you take this information to heart and it helps motivate you to achieve your weight loss goals.
If you need help with losing weight I invite you to call us and schedule your free weight loss consultation. Just call us now at 215-821-7336 and we can schedule your appointment.

If you are one of our weight loss patients you know that I believe that food is meant to be enjoyed. Growing up in my family everything that we did, every celebration every event was always celebrated with food, and lots of. In a sense, food was a celebration of life.
And some of my happiest from childhood are of sitting together with my great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, my brother and sister, and uncles and cousins at my great-grandmothers dining room table where we feasted upon ravioli, lasagna, baked zitti, gnocchi and desserts like ricotta filled cannolis and cream puffs. Yes, you may have guessed, that I grew up in a large Italian family! And like most Italian families most interactions with one another took place at the kitchen table or dining room table enjoying good food and each other.
That is why in our weight loss program we make a point of giving you lots of recipes of wholesome food that we all grew up eating but our versions of these recipes will have lower calories and lower carbohydrates. Making them weight loss friendly. But they taste so good you won’t believe there diet food.
So here are two great recipes; one is for a low carbohydrate version of my grandmother’s rotolo and the other is for a low-carb recipe for lasagna that is quick and easy to make.
This is a family recipe that my great-grandmother Virginia has handed down to my wife. My wife has changed the recipe a bit, to make it more diabetic friendly, but it tastes just as good if not better than Great[grandma’s recipe.
Rotolo – Verdi Style
- Ingredients for the Filling:
- ricotta cheese – 12 ounces 1 1/2 cups
- Parmesan cheese, approximately the 4 ounces of grated Parmesan cheese
- finely chopped fresh oregano – 1/2 cup
- finely chopped – fresh parsley – 1/2 cup
- egg – 1 large egg
- minced raw garlic – 3 cloves
- Sea salt – 1/2 teaspoon
- nutmeg – 1/8 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- black pepper – 1/8 teaspoon of ground black pepper
- Additional Ingredients:
- Roasted or delimeat chicken breast that you can get from your supermarket – cut into strips that are 1.5 inches wide and 6 inches long. You should have about 24 slices of meat.
- 2 cups of tomato sauce
- shredded mozzarella cheese – approximately the 1/2 cup
- some additional Parmesan cheese to serve over top when everything is finished cooking.
First preheat your oven to 300°F. Combine all of the ingredients together except for the chicken breast tomato sauce and the extra 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Make sure that all of the ingredients are mixed nicely.
Then take your strips of chicken and place them on your counter and take 1/3 cup of the mixture of all your ingredients in place it on to your strip of chicken. Then start rolling it up and place it with the seam side down. Do this with the rest of your chicken strips. After that take 1 cup of your tomato sauce and pour it into the bottom of a cast iron skillet approximately 12 inches or you can use any other type of ovenproof skillet or pan.
Then take your chicken rolls and put them in the pan with them laying on their side. Take all of your roles of meat and place them in the pan so they fit very snugly. Make sure that your filling is facing upward. Next take the remaining 1 cup of tomato sauce and pour it over top. You can now put this in your oven and let it bake for approximately the 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted completely.
When it is done take it out of the oven and you can now sprinkle your mozzarella generously over top. Place it back in the oven for about another 10 minutes or so or until the cheese is melted once again. After that take it out of the oven and let it stand for at least a good 15 minutes before serving. And of course you can top it with the extra Parmesan cheese if you would like.
This recipe makes 12 servings each of them has about 386 calories, 61 grams of protein and 5 grams of carbohydrates.
Lasagna – Low Carb Style Roll Ups
- Ingredients:
- approximately three-quarter pound and you can use either oven roasted chicken breast from the deli counter – approximately 16 slices or you can use sliced oven roasted turkey from your deli counter. Make sure that the slices of meat are approximately 1/8 inch and you want to have 16 slices.
- To make the filling you will need:
- ricotta cheese – 1 cup
- egg – 1 large egg
- Parmesan cheese – approximately 1/3 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- mozzarella cheese – 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
- Additional Ingredients
- tomatoes – three medium-sized tomatoes – sliced thin
- fresh basil leaves
- 2 cups of tomato sauce – meat sauce or marinara sauce
As always first we have to preheat your oven. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Place your turkey on a large sheet of parchment paper. To make the filling take a large bowl and mix together the eggs ricotta cheese until their mixed nicely and then stir in the mozzarella cheese and the Parmesan cheese.
After you have made the filling take about 1/4 cup of it and place it on top of one of your meat slices and spread it out evenly. Do this with the remaining slices of meat. Take about 3 slices of tomato and place them over top of your filling on each of the slices of meat. Next take some of your basil and place it on top of your tomatoes.
After that rollup each slice of meat and place them, seam side down, a and a baking dish that is approximately 8 inches. When you have all of the strips of meat rolled up with the mixture tomato and basil inside and placed in your baking pans top each one of them with the marinara sauce. I like to use about 2 – 3 tablespoons of the sauce.
Now we are finally ready to place it in the oven and bake it for about 25 minutes or so or until the cheese is melted. This recipe makes four servings each of them has 467 cal, 50 grams of protein and 9 g of carbohydrates.
I truly do hope you enjoy these recipes and if you would like help losing weight I invite you to call us and schedule your free consultation. Call us at 215-821-7336 and schedule your free weight loss consultation now.

This is why we spend so much time with you reviewing what you should be eating and explaining why. The reasons why people lose weight with our medical weight loss programs is because of the high quality appetite suppressant medications we use and because of the education we give our patients. Our patients know what, why and when they should be eating and this is the key to their success.
This is why we score so highly in Medical weight loss clinic reviews.
Mia, who is one of our superstar weight loss patients asked me if we had some really good recipes for a butter cream and recipe for a quick breakfast for those mornings when there is never enough time to prepare a breakfast.
So here are 2 recipes. One is for a pralines and vanilla butter cream and the other is a nice chia seed pudding that can be eaten for breakfast or any other time of the day.
This is one of my most favorite low carb recipes. It is a low-carb version of a pralines and vanilla buttercream. This recipe makes about 4 servings and each of them has approximately 2 g of carbohydrates per serving.
- Pralines and Vanilla Buttercream
- Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound of unsalted butter
- vanilla extract – 2 teaspoons
- soy sauce – 1 – 2 teaspoons
- to make this recipe a little bit more sweet you can add 1 – 2 teaspoons of a sugar substitute such as Stevia or swerve and even erythritol.
Directions:
First we are going to take 2 ounces of the butter and heat it in a small saucepan until it foams up a bit and you will see golden brown speckles. Just make sure they you do not burn the butter. Just before you start to see the golden brown speckles add your soy sauce and mix everything well. The addition of the soy sauce to the recipe gives it a very unique delicious flavor. Plus it also adds to the beautiful coloring of our cream.
The next step is to pour the butter and soy sauce combination into a pans and blend in the rest of the butter a little at a time, and add your sweetener to this as well and continue to blend – mix until all of the butter is blended and has nice fluffy peaks. You can either do this by hand or if you have a blender it makes the process much more easy. When this is finished just add the vanilla extract and once again stir everything together.
This recipe is so tasty that sometimes I will have just this by itself as a dessert or as a snack. What you can also add it over top of pancakes, waffles and almost anything that you could think of. You can also add ginger, cinnamon, cocoa and even some fruit to this and enjoy it as a snack.
If you are one of our weight loss patients you know that most mornings my breakfast is a nice cup of coffee with some half-and-half or heavy cream and a packet Stevia with an added teaspoon of coconut butter. But there are some mornings that I just need to eat something a little bit more than a cup of coffee. Personally I really like to have a low-carb type of pudding for a quick and easy breakfast. So one or two nights a week we will make this pudding and then just let it sit in the refrigerator overnight for whenever I am really hungry in the morning.
This is really one of the easiest recipes that we make, And it only takes about 5 minutes to prepare. Now remember you should let this refrigerate for 4 hours or more; that’s why we like to make it at night.
So here is the recipe for my Chia pudding:
This recipe makes one serving and it has approximately 5 g of carbohydrates.
- Ingredients:
- three-quarter cup of unsweetened coconut milk
- Chia seeds – 2 tablespoons
- vanilla extract – 1/2 teaspoon
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together in a saucepan and stir it well. When it’s totally mixed just pour in into a jar and let it sit in your refrigerator preferably overnight. Just make sure that you refrigerate this for at least four hours otherwise it will be to liquid for you to enjoy. The next morning just open up the refrigerator and you can spoon the pudding into a bowl. I will usually add a little bit more of the coconut milk and just eat it that way or sometimes I will just add a little bit of fruit. Also I do enjoy adding a bit of unsweetened cocoa powder, ginger or cinnamon to this in the morning.

Guide To Successful Weight Loss
In our weight-loss program it is recommended that you eat your first meal within the first 60 minutes of waking up. This is important because this first meal will provide fuel for your body to carry on throughout the day. If you do not eat within the first 60 minutes of waking up it will adversely affect the hormonal and chemical systems of your body. Your body will actually think that you are starving and as such you will tend to store the calories consumed throughout the rest of the day as fat. If you are not a breakfast person you may just eat a cup of sugar free yogurt and a cup of fruit or one of our Meal Replacement Shakes. Now remember just eating fruit alone is not recommended. You must have a small portion of protein for breakfast in order to set your body in fat burning mode for the day. This is why the Meal Replacement shake is ideal.
After breakfast I would recommend that you eat a meal or snack every 3 to 4 hours.
It is also recommended that you do not eat past 7 PM or 8 PM. This is because the mobility of the stomach tends to decrease significantly after 7 PM. Therefore, the majority of the calories consumed past 7 PM are usually stored as fat on the body. If you must eat past 7 PM I would ask that you eat vegetables and a very lean protein. Do not eat starch carbohydrates containing any type of flour or wheat.
In addition to your recommended diet / nutritional food program I would ask that you try to eat 2 pounds of vegetables daily. I would suggest that you eat 1 pound of raw vegetables and 1 pound of cooked vegetables. Raw vegetables include leafy green vegetables, lettuces, spinach, celery, cucumbers, etc. One or two large salads during the day will make it easy to consume a pound of raw vegetables daily. I also recommend that each every day you have with you a Ziploc bag filled with celery, carrots, cucumbers, peppers and any other types of vegetables that you enjoy. Now if you do get hungry during the day just open up your Ziploc bag and you can eat as many of these vegetables as you would like.
7 to 9 hours of sleep are recommended each every night. This is because your body actually metabolizes or burns your fat while you are sleeping. So if you do not have an adequate amount of sleep you will not burn as much fat and you will not lose as much weight as you should be losing on this program.
A common side effect of the medication is constipation. If you do experience constipation Miralax is recommended as well as sugar-free Metamucel.
It is also recommended that you drink approximately 64 ounces of water every day.
The following teas are recommended to assist with your weight loss: Yerbamate assists in metabolizing fat, Green Tea assist in metabolizing fat and Eleotin. Start by just drinking one cup of tea a day of any of the three teas listed. You can add more cups of tea if you would like.
Instead of skipping a meal have – Herbalogica Meal Replacement Shake – You need to eat to lose weight.
Foods to Avoid:
Stay away from all types of cream in your coffee because cream has a tremendous amount of calories. Avoid all types of sugar. As long as there is any type of sugar in your body your body will not burn fat. Avoid dried fruit as it contains empty calories and a tremendous amount of sugar. Fruit juice purchased at the store must say no sugar added. I would prefer that you only drink freshly squeezed juices. Alcohol is to be avoided. Alcohol adversely affects your liver and other systems of the body and can actually inhibit the fat burning systems of your body for several days. Do not eat any type of food containing wheat, flour or rice past 7 PM. Slim fast is not recommended contains lots of sugar.
