Hungry Man Sized Breakfast Casserole*
Ingredients:
- 24 ounces of frozen hash browns
- 1 cup of skim milk
- 1 cup a big substitute
- ½ cup of diced onion
- ½ cup of red bell pepper diced
- 4 ounces of diced green chilies
- ¾ cups of swiss cheese grated
- 6 slices of bacon that’s cooked and crumbled
Spray a 9×13” pan with nonstick vegetable oil spray. Add the hashbrowns and cook in 300°F for about 20 minutes. Next mixed all the remaining ingredients and pour over potatoes and cook for 30 minutes. This makes approximately 6 servings each with 414 calories.
Ham and Egg Casserole*
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter melted
- 1 pound of low-fat Monterey Jack cheese shredded
- 2 ½ cups of egg substitute beaten
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 16 ounces of fat-free cottage cheese
- 2 cups of ham that you cut into cubes
- ⅛ teaspoon of Tabasco sauce
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 cup of shredded zucchini
- 8 ounces of sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup of chopped red bell pepper
we are going to preheat an oven to 400°F and put butter in a 9 inch pan and melt this in the oven. Next combine all the other ingredients and put them in the pan and bake this at 400°F for approximately 15 minutes and then at 350°F for another 15 to 20 minutes. This makes 6 servings and each with the calorie count of 413 calories.
Asparagus Omelette and Citrus Salad*
omelette ingredients:
- 10 ounces of asparagus
- 1 ½ cups of egg substitute
- ⅓ cup of Parmesan cheese finely grated
- ¼ teaspoon of black pepper
- ¼ cup of scallions thinly sliced
- salad ingredients:
- 6 ounces of mandarin oranges
- 2 grapefruits cut into sections
- 3 cups of bib lettuce
- 6 tablespoons of poppy seed dressing
Steam the asparagus until crisp and tender, approximately 5 minutes and then drain. Whisk the egg substitute, grated Parmesan cheese and black pepper in a large bowl to blend. Spray a skillet with nonstick vegetable oil. Sauté the sliced scallions for 3 minutes or until softened. Add the cooked asparagus and sauté until heated through. Reduce the heat to medium and spread the asparagus mixture in a single layer in the skillet. Next pour the egg mixture over the asparagus and cook until the eggs are softly set tilting the skillet and gently running a rubber spatula around edge to allow uncooked egg to flow underneath, for about 4 minutes. Slide the omelette onto a plate folding it in half, cut the omelette into wedges and serve. While the omelette is cooking combine the Mandarin oranges, grapefruit sections and lettuce in a large bowl and toss lightly with dressing and divide onto salad plates. This makes approximately 3 servings with each having 388 calories.
Spicy Omelette*
Ingredients:
- 1 large potato
- ¾ pound of turkey sausage
- 1 small chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- ¾ cup of egg substitute
- 6 whole-wheat 8 inch tortillas
- ½ cup of reduced fat Monterey Jack cheese
- ½ cup of salsa
- Cook the potato in boiling water for about 35 minutes until it’s tender. You can cook the potato in the microwave if you prefer. When cool, peel and cut the potato into cubes. Brown the sausage in a frying pan and add chopped onion, chili powder, and cayenne pepper. Cook this for about 10 minutes. Drain and discard any fat. Add the cubed cooked potato. Beat the egg substitute and add to the pan, stir until the eggs are set. Spoon the mixture into the center of the warm tortillas and then top with the shredded cheese and roll up the tortilla. Then place on a plate and serve with the salsa. This makes 6 servings each with 409 calories.
Breakfast Enchiladas Family-Style*
Ingredients:
- 12 ounces of finely chopped ham
- ½ cup of chopped green onions
- 2 cups of chopped green bell peppers
- 1 cup of chopped onion
- 1 ½ cups of low-fat grated cheddar cheese
- 8 whole-wheat 8 inch true tears
- 1 ½ cups of egg substitute
- 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of Tabasco sauce
- 1 avocado
Preheat our oven to 350°F. Mix together the ham, onion, green bell pepper and cheese. Divide the mixture among the tortillas and roll them up. Place the seam side down in a greased 12 x 7 x 2” pan. In a separate bowl beat egg substitute, skim milk, flour, garlic and Tabasco sauce. And pour this over the enchiladas. Place in the refrigerator overnight or for a few hours then cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. uncover for the last 10 minutes and then top with the slices of avocado to finally serve it. This makes approximately 8 servings each with about 385 calories.
Full Comfy Tummy Breakfast Extravaganza*
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of turkey sausage
- 2 cups of egg substitute
- 10 slices of whole wheat bread cubed
- 3 cups of skim milk
- 1 cup of low-fat shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup of chopped onion
- 1 cup of chopped red bell pepper
- 10 ounces of chopped broccoli
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon of dry mustard
- 2 teaspoons of dried basil
In a large skillet brown the sausage then drain. In a large bowl beat the egg substitute then add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Spoon into a greased 13 x 9” baking pan. Cover and let this refrigerate for 8 hours or so. Then preheat the oven to 350°F and bake this for about 60 – 70 minutes or until it’s cooked all the way through. This makes about 8 servings each with approximately 391 calories.
Morning Sun Veggie Quesadilla*
Ingredients:
- 1 slice of turkey bacon
- ¼ cup of chopped onion
- ½ cup of chopped red bell pepper
- ¼ cup of egg substitute
- 2 tablespoons of black beans
- 1 ounce of fat-free sour cream
- 3 tablespoons of salsa
- 1 whole wheat 6 inch tortilla
- 3/4 ounces of switch cheese
Cook your bacon and then set it aside bring a medium large pan sprayed with nonstick vegetable oil spray to medium heat and add the red bell pepper and onion and cook until it softened, this should should take about 3 minutes or so. Then add the egg substitute and scramble until fully cooked. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and set the pain aside to cool. Add the bacon, beans, 1 tablespoon of sour cream and 1 tablespoon of salsa to the egg scramble bowl and lightly mixed this and set it aside. Clean and dry the pan, spray with nonstick vegetable oil spray and bring to medium-high heat. Place the tortilla flat in the pan and sprinkle evenly with cheddar cheese. Spoon the egg mixture over half of the tortilla and and then fold the other half of Tortilla over top of the eggs. Make sure you press this down evenly with the spatula to seal everything and cook until both sides are crispy. This should be approximately 2 minutes per side. And then you could top this with the remaining salsa and sour cream. This makes one serving with approximately 400 calories.

Jump-Start Your Weight Loss For 2016 – 4 Recipes Under 400 Calories
For this new year of 2016 so many of us will have a New Year’s resolution of losing weight. So if you are looking to lose weight while eating delicious and hunger killing meals here are 4 scrumptious recipes that will satisfy your tastebuds and your cravings.
Now this first recipe is definitely one that you will not see in most diet plans but if you are one of our weight loss patients you know that we are nothing like the majority of other medical weight loss programs in the area. We use only the finest quality weight loss appetite suppressant medications, weight loss pills and tablets and we spend a tremendous amount of time continuing to educate our patients and giving you foods and recipes that are delicious and will help you achieve your weight loss goals.
One of my favorite meals as a child was my Mom’s Shepherd’s Pie. Nothing compared to the stuffed tummy and love I felt while eating this. So here is an under 400 calorie recipe for one of my most favorite meals in the world.
Chicken Shepherd’s Pie*
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1 cup of low-sodium chicken broth
- 3 cups of cooked chicken breast, diced
- 1 cup of red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup of red onion, chopped
- 20 ounces of frozen mixed vegetables
- 3 cups of mashed potatoes, prepared according to the package directions
- ½ cup of low-fat cheddar cheese, shredded
Mix the cornstarch with the broth and heat until this is thickened and bubbly. Stir in the chicken and then place this mixture in the bottom of a 9 x 9” baking dish. Cook the vegetables until almost tender then spread the vegetables over the chicken mixture. Next cover this with the prepared mashed potatoes. And then top with the cheddar cheese. Finally heat under the broiler until the potatoes start to brown and the cheese melts. This makes approximately 6 servings each with about 350 calories.
Fried Chicken Dinner*
- 1 pound boneless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
- 4 tablespoons of dry bread crumbs
- 4 small red potatoes cut into quarters
- 2 teaspoons of olive oil
- 4 cups of fresh broccoli florets
- ¼ cup of honey
- 2 tablespoons of low-sodium chicken broth or water
We are going to start by creating our oven to 450°F and then coat a large baking sheet with nonstick olive oil spray. Then butterfly the chicken by cutting each piece in half horizontally, slicing it almost through to the other side but not cutting it completely. Next we open a chicken breast have to make one thin piece. And brush Dijon mustard over both sides. Place the seasoned breadcrumbs in a shallow dish and add chicken breast and turn to coat each side. Then place the chicken onto the baking sheet and spring chicken breast with the nonstick vegetable olive oil spray. We are going to bake this for approximately 8 – 10 minutes until the chicken is cooked all the way through. While the chicken is cooking you’re going to place the red potatoes in a microwave safe container with a lid adding olive oil and toss to coat the potatoes with the olive oil. Then cover and microwave on high for about 5 minutes until the potatoes are tender. Place the broccoli in a microwave container with a lid, cover and microwave on high for 3 minutes until the broccoli is crisp and tender. In a small bowl whisk together the hunting and a chicken broth and then place the chicken on individual plates and drizzle the honey mixture over top. And make sure you serve the potatoes and broccoli as side dishes. This makes 4 servings each with about 395 calories.
Creamy Pasta with Chicken and Vegetables*
- 10 ounces of whole-wheat linguine or spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 2 cups of zucchini that are cut into strips
- 12 ounces of sliced mushrooms
- 2 cups of broccoli florets
- 1 cup of chopped onions
- ½ teaspoon minced garlic
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- 1 cup skim milk
- 2 cups of cubed and cooked chicken breast
- ⅛ teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 cup of sliced roma tomatoes
- ¼ cup of parmesan cheese
Cook the linguine or spaghetti according to the directions you find on the package. Then in a skillet heat the oil and add zucchini, mushrooms, broccoli, garlic and basil. Stir until the zucchini is crisp and tender, this should take approximately 2 – 3 minutes. Next drain the pasta and return to the saucepan. Stir in the skim milk, chicken, zucchini mixture, and black pepper and then heat thoroughly. Add tomatoes and cheese – toss everything together and serve. This makes approximately 6 servings each with about 377 calories.
Pasta with Chicken and Broccoli*
- ¼ cup of olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ pounds of boneless skinless chicken breast cut into ½ inch strips
- 1 ½ cups of broccoli florets
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- black pepper to taste
- ¼ cup of white wine
- ¾ cup of low-sodium chicken broth
- ½ pound of whole-wheat bowtie pasta cooked
- Parmesan cheese
In a large skillet heat the oil over medium heat and sauté the garlic for about one minute starting it constantly. Next we should add the chicken and cook until it’s well done. Then add the broccoli and cook until it’s Chris and tender then add basil, black pepper to taste, wine and chicken broth. We cook this for about 5 minutes and add the cooked and drained pasta to the skillet and toss to mix everything together. We heat this for about 1 – 2 minutes. This makes approximately 4 servings with each serving having about 417 calories.

3 Tips to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain by Medical Weight Loss Philadelphia
It always seems that from October all the way through the end of January it’s the most difficult time of year to not gain weight. Here are 3 tips to help you lose weight during the Holidays.
It’s an especially difficult time if you’re trying to lose weight. I hate to admit it but I even gained a few extra pounds over the Thanksgiving holiday. Why did I gain weigh? Because I am NOT able to resist my wife’s wonderful cooking and baking. Honestly, now just while writing this article I am thinking about the totally delicious banana bread with chocolate chips and peanut butter chips that she made.
And of course I cannot forget the pumpkin pie, coffee cake, sweet potato pie and chocolate pudding and banana pie that she made for our Thanksgiving feast. I must confess that I had more than one slice of each of these yummy goodies. And yes I did gain weight. But because I have my weight loss program in place, (the same program that I give to all of our weight loss patients), I was able to get back to my normal weight after a few days. So I decided to write this article and share a few tips that will hopefully help you avoid gaining weight during this holiday season.
Weight Loss Tip Number 1:
Skip eating breakfast. Yes you did read it right. I said do not eat breakfast for a day. On a day like Thanksgiving when you know you are going to be eating a humongous feast, it’s probably best to not eat breakfast that day. This is similar to the Protocols of intermittent fasting. With intermittent fasting you give yourself approximately 16 – 18 hours between your dinner and your lunch. The theory is that during this period of time your body will be burning all of your extra body fat. For example if you start your dinner at 7 p.m. at night you should finish around 8 p.m. Then you don’t eat until 12 noon the next day so you will be fasting for approximately 16 hours or so.
It’s really remarkable that when you do not eat for 16 to 18 hours that your body will actually increases its production of growth hormone and anabolic hormones. And these hormones increase your body’s ability to burn fat.
Simply stated when you do not eat for about 16 to 18 hours your body turns into a super efficient fat burning machine.
This will also decrease your body’s blood sugar levels. And it will even decrease your body’s cortisol levels. High levels of Cortisol in our body is known to be one of the major causes of most diseases that we suffer from.
So what I plan to do for the next holiday is to wake up have a nice cup of decaffeinated coffee with some heavy cream or half and half a packet of stevia for breakfast. After this I will try not to eat until dinner time, when I can almost eat as much as I want. I just have to be careful not to eat too many starchy carbohydrates and desserts that will turn into sugar.
We don’t want too much sugar in our bodies because when there is too much sugar in our body – insulin levels spike and this causes everything we have eaten to be stored as body fat.
Now if I get hungry and I really need to eat something at lunch time I try to keep it to healthy proteins like chicken, beef or fish and lots of leafy green vegetables like romaine lettuce and spinach. The easiest thing for me to eat would be a Cobb salad with some chicken and a very nice olive oil and vinegar dressing with oregano, salt, pepper, garlic etc.
Then after I finally eat dinner I will try not to eat for at least 12 hours. This way I give my body time to digest everything properly and help balance out my blood sugar levels. This should also help my body burn all of the excessive calories from the food that I consumed from overeating at the holiday dinner. Every time that I have done this I did not gain any weight during the holidays.
But this past Thanksgiving not only did I eat a humongous amount of food at dinner time but for breakfast I enjoyed some more of my wife’s delicious cakes and pastries. But like I said I just got back into the program the following day and I lost the weight in a couple days.
Weight Loss Tip Number 2:
Go for a walk after dinner. If you go for a nice walk after your big holiday dinner or if you play a game of football or basketball with the family your body should burn up all of the extra sugar and calories that you have eaten from your holiday meal. The more you move the better it is.
Just remember after the big feast you want to be active because the more active you are the less weight you will gain. If you are too stuffed to be active after dinner all you have to do is wake up a little earlier the next morning and go for a walk – walk outside, on a treadmill or even in the mall or ride a bike. This will also help you burn sugar, calories and fat.
Weight Loss Tip Number 3:
Eat 4-5 vegetables a day. This includes at least 2 cups of leafy green vegetables a day. This will help stuff your tummy with healthy food so there is no room for foods that make you fat.
Leafy green vegetables contain lots of nutrients to improve our overall health, decrease our appetite and help us live a skinnier, healthier and happier life.

- 2 ounces full fat Philadelphia cream cheese
- 3/4 cup full fat cottage cheese

- 1/4 cup of unsweetened nondairy milk – almond or coconut
- Stevia to taste
- Vanilla extract to taste – I like approx a 1/2 teaspoon
- Combine all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until creamy smooth.
- Pumpkin Pie Weight Loss Smoothie
- 1⁄4 cup flax seeds
- 1⁄4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1⁄4 cup of unsweetened almond milk
- 1⁄4 cup unsweetened pumpkin purée
- 1 tablespoon powdered Stevia
- 6-9 drops of liquid Stevia
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pumpkin spice mix
- Blend everything together then refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.

Sweet Treats To Lose Weight That Helped Me Lose 80 lbs of Fat & Keep It Off

Directions

Then mix in the stevia or any other sweetener that you are using until it is all mixed nicely. You can then spoon this out onto small cupcake sheets and refrigerate until they are firm and ready to eat.
Low Carb Breakfast Strawberry Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 4 large strawberries
- 1/4 cup sugar free vanilla yogurt
- 1 cup sugar free almond milk
- 2 tablespoons flax seed ground
- 1 scoop protein powder chocolate or vanilla
- 1-2 packets of stevia
- Blend until smooth.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake Smoothie
- 4 tablespoons of sugar free pudding cheesecake flavor
- 2 cups of leafy greens – spinach – kale
- 1/2 to 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
- 1-2 packets of stevia
- 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of ice
- Blend until smooth

Congratulations to Susan who dropped from a size 18 to a curvaceous size 12/14. First let me say that Susan gave us permission to tell her story and she actually insisted we tell her story in hopes of helping people in her same situation.
In our medical weight loss program people come to us to help them lose weight for so many different reasons. Some people may have to lose weight because of health reasons while others are looking to lose weight for some type of family or school reunion and then some are just looking to lose weight to fit into a bathing suit before their vacation.
And for some losing weight can be a triumphant personal victory and such is the case with Susan. You see Susan was a happily married 57-year-old woman with 3 children. But as it turns out Susan’s husband was not quite as happy as she was and he left her for a much younger woman.
Financially Susan was left secure by her husband because he was a very successful businessman but emotionally she was totally devastated. It took quite a bit of time for Susan’s friends to finally convince her to start dating, to get her life back.
And being good friends they set her up on lots of blind dates but sadly there was never a 2nd date. Finally Susan had enough and she decided it was time to do something about her situation.
She decided to find love again.
Susan’s first visit with us was not easy. She gave us every reason why the program was not going to work for her. She also told us that she was never a skinny girl. She was never a size 4, she was never a size 6. But just like we tell all of our patients not everyone is meant to be a size 2, not everyone is meant to be a size 4 or even a size 10. You just have to be happy with yourself and be the best possible you that you could be. I explained to Susan that in our program we take into consideration your body type. And we try to help you appreciate the body that God gave you.
If you are a curvy lady be thankful for the curves that God gave you and if you are a skinny lady be thankful for the body that God gave you. Our program is all about appreciating yourself.
While we do help people that must lose lots of weight we also help ladies (and men) that just need to lose a tummy fat, thigh fat and maybe some arm fat and then just tone everything up with walking and maybe even some resistance training just using rubber bands that they sell in the stores that are inexpensive. And as it turns out Susan also found a gentleman who definitely appreciated her curves.

Here are a few of Susan’s favorite recipes from our weight loss program.
Double Chocolate Low Carb Mug Cake
- 1 ½ TBSP Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
- 2 TBSP Cream Cheese
- 3 TBSP Unsweetened Almond Milk
- ½ Tbsp Milk Chocolate Cocoa
- ½ Tbsp Dark Chocolate Cocoa
- 2 TBSP Milled Flax Seed
- 1 TBSP Almond Flour
- 1 TBSP Sour Cream
- 1 Egg
- 2 TBSP Chocolate Sugar Free Flavoring (Torani)
- 2 or more packets STEVIA
- Soften the cream cheese in the microwave then add the other ingredients and microwave for 1 ½ minutes to 5 minutes depending on your microwave power.
Peanut Butter Low Carb Mug Cake
- 1 ½ TBSP Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
- 2 TBSP Cream Cheese
- 1 TBSP Unsweetened Peanut Butter
- 3 TBSP Unsweetened Almond Milk
- 2 TBSP Golden Flax Seed
- 1 TBSP Almond Flour
- 1 Egg
- 2 TBSP Hazelnut Sugar Free Flavoring
- 3 packets STEVIA
- First soften the cream cheese in the microwave then add all the ingredients and microwave for 1 ½ minutes to 5 minutes depending on your microwave.
Chocolate Mousse
- 1 can of full fat coconut milk, water drained
- ¼ cup of sugar free chocolate protein powder
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder unsweetened.
- Start with one can of full fat coconut cream or full fat coconut milk and just drain the water. And put this in a mixing bowl then add 1/4 cup of your sugar free protein powder and add your 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder then you just mix everything together. Make sure that your protein powder is sugar-free. We have a great sugar free protein powder in the office.
Mug Cake Low Carb
- 1 egg,
- 1 tablespoon of coconut flour
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons of almond flour
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- Add vanilla flavored Stevia to taste combine all of the ingredients in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for approximately one or three minutes until it’s cooked.

Michelle Loses 50 lbs with Medical Weight Loss Philadelphia
Congratulations to Michelle for losing 50 pounds over the past few months with our medical weight-loss program. We are especially proud of Michelle because not only is she going through menopause but she also has a hypothyroid condition as well.
Michelle stuck to the weight-loss plan that we gave her and she only walked about three or four days a week. She said that she really enjoyed the variety of foods and all of the recipes that we give our patients. Every week we post another 2-5 recipes here on this website, on our YouTube channel and even our Google plus page.
So in our continued effort of helping our patients lose 3-5 lbs a week; here are a few more tasty weight-loss recipes.
When I spoke with Michelle today she told me that her two favorite recipes are the cookie dough recipe and low carb pizza with the works. So in celebration of her tremendous weight loss success here are the cookie dough recipe and the pizza with the works recipe.
Low Carb Cookie Dough
- Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 4 tablespoons of stevia, truvia or splenda
- a few drops of vanilla extract
- 3-4 squares of sugar-free chocolate broken into pieces
- 1-2 tablespoons baking powder
- 5 tablespoons of ground almonds
Start by placing the butter in a large bowl and put this in the microwave until the butter is melted. Then take the bowl out of the microwave. But please make sure that you do not burn yourself because the bowl will probably be hot. Be sure to use a towel or oven mittens when removing the bowl from the microwave. Next add all of the other ingredients into the bowl with the melted butter and mix everything nicely until it’s nice and smooth. If you like, you can then place this in the microwave for approximately 30 seconds to 60 seconds and this will melt the chocolate and give it a gooey consistency. After the chocolate is melted nicely carefully take it out of the microwave let it cool down a little bit and you can enjoy. But make sure that it’s cooled down because you don’t want to burn yourself, your tongue or lips.
You can also make little ice cream treats with this recipe. By rolling the mixture into little balls and place them in the refrigerator or freezer.
Low Carb Pizza With the Works
Who doesn’t love pizza? But for most of us Pizza is totally off-limits because – as much as we love Pizza, it loves us back. Because it stays with us as body fat. But with this Pizza recipe you can enjoy eating pizza and not worry about getting fat.
- Ingredients
- 8 ounces of Mozzarella Cheese
- 4 eggs
- 1-2 teaspoons of coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
To make the pizza dough… Coat a Frying-pan with one or two teaspoons of coconut oil. If you are using a solid form of coconut oil allow it to liquefy. And then in a separate bowl whisk your eggs, then add the cheese and mix everything together nicely. Now we just add the egg cheese mixture into the frying pan and we cooked this over a medium heat until it’s semi-firm. At this point place the pan with the cheese and egg mixture into the oven and bake for approximately 5 to 8 minutes at 375°. And then remove this from the oven. Be sure to wear oven mittens so that you do not burn yourself.
This is just the beginning now let’s get started with the pizza toppings. We’re going totaling Italian here, so we are going to top our pizza with sausage, pepperoni, peppers, cheese and marinara sauce.
Here is everything that we need: 1-3 ounces of sausage, 8-11 slices of pepperoni, 3-4 tablespoons of chopped green peppers, a half cup any cheese or cheese mixture/blends that you like and finally a cup of marinara sauce.
We are going to start by adding to another Frying-pan the sausage and let this cook until it’s nice and brown. After approximately 10-11 minutes add the peppers and let this cook for another 2 to 4 minutes until everything is cooked nicely. Just make sure that your sausage is thoroughly cooked. Now take the marinara sauce and spread the sauce over your pizza dough. Next we add the cheese, pepperoni and finally the pepper and sausage mixture. There you have it! A fantastic pizza with the works just like you would get in South Philly.

Fruity Tea Fat Burning Recipes by Medical Weight Loss Philadelphia
Hello everyone, it’s approaching the end of August and the end of summer is quickly upon us – with children going back to school and workloads returning to normal. And if you’re like me you may have just taken one of your children back to college.
This past weekend we just took our youngest son Noah to Penn State University for his first year. (If you are one of our weight loss patients, you probably have seen Noah working with us in the office this summer) And yes we are now empty-nesters, except for our 3 dogs who hopefully will never go off to college. So today my wife and I are feeling kind of blah and missing Noah quite a bit and because of this I have decided to make this post about some of my son’s favorite smoothie recipes but of course I will make them weight loss and fat burning friendly.
And yes you can still lose 2 – 5 pounds a week on our medical weight loss program while enjoying these delicious recipes. I am going to give you some of Noah’s favorite summertime fusion tea recipes because tea is especially good for speeding up your fat burning metabolism, detoxing your body and improving your overall health and wellness.
Summer Blast Iced Tea*:
- 4 teabags – green tea or black tea
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 1/2 cup of agave
- 1/4 cup of crushed fresh mint leaves
- 1 cup of unsweetened orange juice
- 3/4 cup of unsweetened pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice
- ice cubes
- 1 1/2 quarts of carbonated water
Directions: For the concentrate, place the tea bags in a medium bowl and add boiling water and steep for approximately 10 minutes. Then remove the tea bags and add the agave and mint and makes this very well. Mix the fruit juices and 1 quart container. Then add to tea mixture and refrigerate until you are ready to use it. For the tea, fill a 12 ounce glass with ice cubes and then add a half cup of the tea concentrate and fill the glass with carbonated water. This makes about 6 servings.
Tapioca Nut Tea*:
Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 cups of water
- 2 black tea bags
- 4 teaspoons of Stevia or any other sugar substitute
- 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract
- 1 tablespoon of instant tapioca
- 4 tablespoons of unsweetened almond milk
- ice cubes
Bring the water to a boil in a medium sauce pan over high heat. Pour 2 cups of boiling water over the tea bags in a teapot or in 2 cup heat proof measuring cup. Steep the tea for 4 minutes or until it’s a very dark and then remove the teabags. Stir in the sugar substitute and almond extract and let this cool to room temperature. Then add the tapioca to the remaining 1 and half cups of boiling water and let this boil for 3 to 4 minutes over medium – high heat until the tapioca is translucent and cooked through. Next drain the tapioca and rinse under cold water until it’s cool. And divide the tapioca between 2 tall glasses, poor 2 tablespoons of the unsweetened almond milk and to each glass. Fill each glass three fourths full with ice. Divide T between the glasses and stir to combine and serve this immediately. This makes about 2 servings that are 10 ounces each. If you’d like you can even substitute the black tea with any other type of tea either one of your favorite herbal teas or even a fruit flavored tea. And instead of using the almond extract you can even use vanilla, I have done this and it’s very tasty.
Lime & Ginger Iced Tea*:
- 1 quart of water
- 2 thin slices of fresh ginger – approximately 1 inch in diameter
- 4 green tea bags
- 1/2 cup of Stevia or any other sugar substitute
- 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed lime juice – this should be about 2 – 3 whole limes
- ice cubes
Instructions: Bring the water and ginger to a boil in a large saucepan. Pour the water over the tea bags in a teapot or a 4 cup heatproof measuring cup and let the tea steep for approximately 3 minutes. Next we removed teabags and the ginger. Stir n 1/4 cup of unsweetened sugar substitute and let this cool to room temperature. and now mix the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar substitute with the lime juice and add this to the tea, finally pour the tea into 4 ice filled glasses and enjoy. This makes approximately force servings.
Lemon-Berry Ice Tea*:
- 3 cups of boiling water
- 16 bags of your favorite tea
- 1/2 cup of Stevia or any other sugar substitute
- 3 cups of unsweetened cranberry juice
- 3/4 cups of freshly squeezed lemon juice – approximately 5 lemons
- ice cubes
Directions: in a very large pitcher, pour the boiling water over the tea bags. Cover and let this steep for about 5 minutes. Then remove the tea bags and stir in the sugar. Next we add to cranberry and lemon juices and chill in the refrigerator for a bit. Serve this over ice and you can always garnish it with a nice slice of lemon or lime. This makes approximately 7 servings that are 8 ounces each.

You Can Eat Apple Pie and Lose 2-5 lbs a Week by Medical Weight Loss Philadelphia
In our Philadelphia weight loss program our goal is to have our weight loss patients lose 2 – 5 pounds per week and we try to make this an easy and tasty process. So here are a 4 great recipes for 400 calorie meals that will make losing weight simple and delicious.
Everyone loves dessert and almost everyone loves a good apple pie so our first recipe is going to be for Apple pie.
*Apple Pie
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of graham crackers, crushed
- 5 apples quartered and peeled
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of allspice
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/3 cup unsweetened apple juice
Spray a microwavable safe pie plate with nonstick vegetable oil spray. Spread the graham cracker crumbs in the plate. Cover with the Apple slices. Sprinkle with the spices. Sprinkle the raisins over top. Pour the juice over this. Cover and microwave for about 15 minutes. This makes 8 servings and each serving had about 81 calories.
*Chile Relleno Casserole
Now this recipe is usually for lunch or dinner but we’re going to add in strict and to it and make it a recipe that’s suitable for breakfast.
Ingredients:
- 4 ounces of green chili peppers
- 8 ounces of low-fat cheddar cheese grated
- 4 ounces low-fat Monterey Jack cheese grated
- 1 cup of egg substitute
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 14 ounces of fat-free evaporated milk
- Rinse the chilies and remove the seeds. Place half the Chilies in a greased casserole dish. Sprinkle half of both of the cheeses on top of this and then add the remaining chilies. And top this with the rest of the cheese. Beat the egg substitute, flour and evaporated milk together until its smooth. Pour over the top and bake for approximately 45 minutes in 350°F. This makes approximately 3 servings.
*Quiche Mexican-style
Ingredients:
- 4 whole-wheat tortillas, 8 inch
- 2 ounces of Monterey Jack cheese
- 8 ounces of turkey sausage
- 1/2 cup of onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup of red or green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup egg substitute
- 1 cup of skim milk
Heat the tortillas and place in a small dish such as a Super Bowl that has been sprayed with nonstick oil spray. Top with half of the cheese. Cook fish sausage, onion and peppers and then add them to this dish. Mix together the remaining ingredients and pour over top. Top with the rest of the cheese. Bake at 350°F for about 30 to 35 minutes until the eggs are set. This makes 4 servings
*Granola Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of dates, firmly packed
- 1 cup of apple juice concentrate
- 3 tablespoons of peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons of honey
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of molasses
- 1 tablespoon of walnuts chopped
- 1/2 cup of coconut
- 1/2 cup of raisins
- 2 1/3 cups of whole-wheat flour or almond flour
- 2 cups of quick cooking oats
Blend the dates and apple juice concentrate until smooth; add the peanut butter, honey, vanilla and molasses. Blend well and place in a mixing bowl. Add the nuts, Coconut, raisins and flour and mix well. Add the rolled oats and blend, you can use your hands if needed. Spoon this mixture onto nonstick cookie sheet and press with the wet fork or your fingers until it’s about 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 300°F for about 20 minutes. Each cookie has 86 calories.
